Another eventful 3 days
Rowed in the morning with JL, protein,
Jeff, Amy and Felix. It was so tiring.
fell asleep for 3 hours after I reached
home.
Friday was my NS medical checkup.
Justine was with me because we
registered our checkup together
and requested for the same time
and date.
The medical checkup was really amusing
due to some reasons
1. While everyone was looking glum and tensed
at the waiting area for the start of the
checkup, I was busy choosing which Cleo or
menhealth magazine to take, and trying to
get Justine to join me.
2. 15 men in the toilet urinating in one
line doing the urine test.
3. Everyone was quiet and tensed and I was
chatting non-stop with the army medic
drawing my blood.
4. Me and Justine were the only people joking
and laughing in a small room where 10 guys
were lining up topless while waiting for
the chest X-Ray
5. Me saying "Hmmm..." When the little blue
sucking thingys where placed on my chest
and surprising the Doc. He said he heard many
"ouch", "arhs" and stuff but never a "hmmm.."
in his many years of working there.
6. Was the only one messing with the magazines
at the second waiting area.
7. Justine being shaved by the photographer
8. Taking a photo with a army shirt while
wearing shorts at the bottom.
9. Being pinned (and I DO mean pinned) by an
auntie on the board for X-Ray. Well...
I felt kinda violated. LOL
10.The never ending(1 hour++) of stressful
and nonsensical computer test
but, the highlight must be the fact that I
DIDN'T have the strip my pants during the
checkup! While most of you guys might feel
injustice that I didn't have to take of my pants
do those funny exercises, I just got to
flaunt it a little!
It happened like that:
Me: "Hi"
Officer: "Hi, take a sit"
Officer: "Can I know your 2.4 timing?"
Me: "er... 9.11"
Officer: "Fantastic. Now your report says here that you broke your left arm before"
Me: "yea, but it was rather long ago"
Officer: "Can you do strenuous exercises with your arms, like pullups? How many can
you do? 10? 12?"
Me: "er... 25?"
Officer: "O...k..."
Officer: "So, have I asked you about your genitals
Me: "HuH?"
Officer: "That you have 1 p****, 2 t******** and nothing wrong with it?"
Me: "Er... ya?"
Officer: "Ok great, then I will save you the embarrassment of taking off your shorts
. You're down now."
Me: "oh cool, thanks :)"
And in justine's case...
Justine: (enters room)
Officer: "can you take off your shorts?"
... ...
well, Justine didn't really had a chance. HAHA.
The worst thing was that it was the same
officer :)
Gery came over to stay overnight and work on
the designs for the jerseys and stuff,
while desmond unexpectedly popped over later.
Gery went mad in the supermarket and it became
crazy when we lost each other and my phone batt was
flat. I walked 4 rounds around the 2nd storey looking
while Gery walked on the lst. Gery was also
freaked out by marble (my cat) and it didnt help
when my brother's girlfriend joined in. Lots
of screaming all around.(How can you be afraid
of a little furball which only rubs you on your legs?)
Gery was very determined to make supper for all of
us, so me and desmond were chased out of the kitchen
while she cooked. It was really nice of gery to clean
up all the mess that we created.
Thanks gery!
Saturday, 17 June, race day, blessed with good
weather. It was really another highlight in
my life. I love dragonboat. I am a dragonboat
person. It was my day.
We fought, and we fought hard with spirit,
glory and perseverance. It was the last
time the seniors are rowing with the juniors,
and I treasure every moment of it, just like
I treasured rowing with my seniors last year.
We did well, a gold and bronze for the girls,
and a silver and bronze for the guys. It wasn't,
however, the medals that I treasure, but the
emotions that will stay forever in my heart.
The hugs and tears among the guys, the joy
and encouragement, the cheers, the school song
with ACSI, the prayers, the laugher, the rowing,
I will never forget. This day itself makes all
the past training, the bleeding hands, the leg
cuts sustained in the boat, the abrasions, blisters,
the muscle aches, all worth it. The journey
wasn't easy, but it made us grow together.
And really Ted is the best teacher and coach I
ever had, and it was really nice when he allowed
me to hug him after the competition :) hehe.
Ted is really nice because he never shouts
at us in training but believe that we are
matured to push ourselves. And his commitment
to the team is unparalleled, coming down
on days where he could have a good rest
after a long week of work, despite not being
paid a cent. So Ted's the Greatest! And he
treated us satay and ice cream yesterday!
To all juniors, I always believed, training is just
like gathering fuel. Every hard training that you do
will add a little fuel in you as you
mature and learn. Competition day is a day which
will light the fire and ignite the senior in you.
Row hard, and continue the Legacy that has
carried on for so many generations. I hope I had
done enough as a senior to guide you and make
your journey enjoyable.
To Seniors and grandseniors, thanks for coming down
to lend your support. Really, this makes a world
of a difference for me. Thank you!
Amy, Winny and Suu! Another 3 of our unpaid coaches!
Thank you so much for teaching us and making this
journey so much more enjoyable and fun :)
So now, lets work hard for the final chapter, the
canoeing championships which is coming in less then
month's time, and glorify the AC family.
Oh, and juniors, you haven't poled JL and Danny yet. :)
please find a nice big tree for them! preferably with ants
Lucas Out!
